The State of Proptech in Africa 2025

The first white paper on innovation and digital transformation in the built environment on the African continent

  • We are a collaborative group of PropTech professionals, researchers, and investors working across Africa’s real estate and technology landscape. Our team brings together diverse perspectives from across the continent and the diaspora, united by a shared commitment to understanding and advancing the PropTech sector in Africa.

This is a non-profit research initiative, driven by a shared commitment to insight and impact — not commercial gain.

We are doing this work to inform, connect, and empower the ecosystem, not to sell a product or promote a single organisation.

  • To capture and elevate the voices shaping Africa’s PropTech sector — creating a clear, data-driven, and honest account of the innovations, challenges, and opportunities defining the future of real estate technology across the continent.

  • We are developing an independent white paper that explores the current state of PropTech in Africa. Through in-depth interviews with founders, investors, policy makers, and ecosystem leaders, we aim to build a comprehensive picture of the sector as it stands today — and where it’s headed.

This white paper offers a comprehensive overview of the PropTech landscape across Africa. Drawing on interviews, data analysis, and regional case studies, it explores:

    • Key trends shaping PropTech in Africa today

    • Regional dynamics and ecosystem differences

    • Insights into funding, policy, regulation, and innovation

    • Country-by-country snapshots grouped into five sub-regions

    • Future trends and game-changing technologies shaping the sector’s growth

  • Our objectives are to:

    • Highlight emerging innovations and transformative PropTech solutions

    • Identify key barriers and enablers affecting growth across the continent

    • Map the ecosystem, including notable players, trends, and collaborations

    • Ensure African voices are central in shaping the global PropTech conversation

The white paper will be made publicly available to inform strategy, investment, and policy — and to support a more connected and impactful PropTech ecosystem across Africa.

  • The insights in this report are based on 50+ in-depth interviews with PropTech founders, investors, researchers, and policy experts across Africa. We also analysed secondary data from startup databases, public funding records, and economic indicators. Where possible, we triangulated interview insights with available quantitative data.
